Summer Reading program: June 21- August 18

Babies (0-2)  |  Kids (3-12)   |  Young Adults (13-18)

What is Summer Reading?

Summer reading is a program that encourages babies, children, tweens, teens and adults to read (or be read to!) throughout the summer. It takes place between June 21- August 18th.
Set your own reading goals, read at your own pace, and visit the library to collect fun incentive prizes.
There are free special events and programs in our library all throughout the Summer Reading Program!

Why is Summer Reading important?

Studies have shown that children who read during the summer are able to maintain their reading skills and that children who see their parents read, or who read with their parents, generally score higher on standardized tests.
Reading is important for everyone in the community, regardless of age, and is a skill that grows with practice throughout a lifetime. It’s free, easy to do, and it’s a fun, zero-risk way of trying out all of the services the Lee Memorial Library has to offer.

Weekly Prizes

Each week from June 24 – August 19, we will hold a drawing for a special prize!

Every Monday this summer we’ll award one prize to a lucky teen or child! Every 30 minutes you read and log during the previous week (Monday – Sunday) is worth one automatic entry in the drawing. Make sure to read and fill out your log by the end of the day Sunday to be eligible. We will have a variety of prizes, including books, a Bluetooth speaker, headphones, gift cards, and more!
