Today we are excited to announce that we will launch a broader array of library services beginning Monday, June 22.
Lee Memorial Library will offer a contactless system to borrow materials such as books, magazines, and DVDs, while prioritizing the safety of our patrons and staff. Here’s how it will work:
NOW THROUGH SUNDAY, JUNE 21
RETURNS ACCEPTED & CHECKED IN
● By the Governor’s Executive Order, the library building remains closed to the public.
● The book drop is open, and we encourage our patrons to return materials. Due dates are no longer being extended by our consortium.
● Returned items will be placed in sanitary quarantine for 72 hours before being checked in. They will remain on your library account during this time.
● Please note that no book donations can be accepted at this time.
BEGINNING MONDAY, JUNE 22
RETURNS ACCEPTED & CHECKED IN, NEW REQUESTS MAY BE SUBMITTED, AND PORCH PICK-UP DEBUTS
● New requests can be placed via the library catalog, or email at aldlcirc@bccls.org, or by phone at 201.327.4338 ext.2.
● For now, requests are limited to 20 children’s items per household and 10 adult items per card, per week.
● You will receive notification via email, text, or phone when the item is ready. Please allow up to 24 hours for requests to be filled, and longer over the weekend.
● Items that were requested prior to our March closing may now be picked up.
● After receiving your notification, come to the library. If you are driving, please park in the regular parking lot. Come to the front of the building WEARING A MASK.
● Approach the front door (keeping social distance if others are queued). Show your library card. Your requested items will be placed on the table for Porch Pickup & takeaway.
● The library may refuse service to anyone who jeopardizes others’ safety.
● Items you have requested will be held for up to 4 days and will be returned to the collection after the hold period expires.

● Please note: BCCLS, our library consortium, has NOT YET reinstated interlibrary lending among the member towns. Therefore, for this phase of re-opening services, patrons will have access ONLY to the items that Allendale’s Lee Memorial Library owns and that are in our collection at 500 West Crescent Avenue. When interlibrary lending is reinstituted, we will post an announcement.
● Returns continue to be made through the book drop ONLY, as described above.
● The building remains closed to the public until the Governor lifts his Executive Order.
