Apply for a Library Card

IMG_0407

You can apply for a card online or in person.

All Allendale residents ages five and up are entitled to a free library card. Identification with proof of residency is required when applying for a card. A few examples of acceptable identification include a current driver’s license, utility bill, or rent/mortgage statement. A signature of a parent or guardian is required for children under the age of 18. Hillside kindergarten students typically take a class trip to the Lee Memorial Library each fall, during which they receive their first cards.

Your card is honored in over 75 libraries in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Passaic Counties that are part of the Bergen County Cooperative Library System [BCCLS].

You must present your card to borrow library materials. This card is valid for three years, as long as you reside, work, or pay taxes in Allendale. Patrons are responsible for all items checked out with your card. If you are the parent or guardian of a child under the age of 18, you are also responsible for materials borrowed on the child’s card.

Please help us keep our records up-to-date by letting us know if you change your address, name or phone number. Contact us immediately if your card is lost or stolen. Lost cards may be replaced for $3.00.
